Don’t forget to register to vote

Thanks, @metropulse for the reminder to register to vote.

How to register.

Where to register:

•County Clerk’s Offices
•County Election Commission Office
•Department of Health (WIC program)
•Department of Human Services
•Department of Mental Health
•Department of Safety (motor vehicles division)
•Department of Veteran’s Affairs
•Public Libraries
•Register of Deeds Offices

I’ll be out Monday myself in order to register, myself. I moved here in December. So thanks for the reminder, Metro Pulse.

This also means that we’re dealing with election season. Be ready to be immersed in this stuff. All the rhetoric and ads aren’t as thick here as they could be – counting presidential stuff, anyway.

Four years ago I worked in a new battleground state: North Carolina. It got crazy there as candidates jockeyed for votes. And it was fun to break down the results to see how and why people and areas voted the way they did. Still, we scruffy reporter types don’t care who wins – as long as it’s a landslide.

Tennessee is a lock for Romney, it appears, so the furor isn’t as intense. But my old colleagues are in the thick of it, based on twitter updates. If you want to see some of what’s happening in a place where the action is sure to get hot and heavy, follow these folks:

Mark Binker – Ace multimedia reporter and former colleague at the N&R. A pro.

Laura Leslie – Former NPR reporter, now works with Binker. Also a top-flight reporter.

… if you’re into that kind of thing.
