Just in from Vice Mayor Nick Pavlis, from a release:
Vice Mayor Nick Pavlis has appointed Stanton Webster to be his Treasurer in the upcoming City Council election. Mr. Webster, a long time Fort Sanders neighborhood activist, his wife Adrienne, and daughter Sophia are residents and homeowners in the Historic Fort Sanders community. Mr. Webster serves as President of the Historic Fort Sanders Neighborhood Association. He also serves as a Board Member of the Fort Sanders Community Development Corporation and is a Member of the Community Advisory Panel for Dow Chemical. Mr. Webster has worked as a Chef and General Manager at several locally owned restaurants in Knoxville.
“I am excited and honored to work on the re-election of Vice Mayor Pavlis. The Vice Mayor combines the finest East Tennessee values of hard work, industriousness and ethical behavior with a quick intellect. Vice Mayor Pavlis has been an amazing asset for the First District. His enthusiasm for the neighborhoods in the First District and his energetic and resolute work for Knoxville are refreshing.”
I am certainly honored to have Mr. Webster serve as my Treasurer. I wanted a person that is engaged in leadership throughout the district and Knoxville as a whole.
As far as I know, this is the first move to name a treasurer by any sitting member of City Council in this election year. Checking on that still, but this much is in: Pavlis wants to keep the seat, and he’s got a guy to watch the campaign funds. The candidate filling period begins March 22.
