In case you haven’t heard, ice is coming.
So are 100 jobs, to West Knoxville. On that I gotta give props to the often awesome Josh Flory. Here in the newsroom I overheard that story coming along as I was speaking with a local elected official about what’s happening. The conversation with the local pol went like this:
Me: So what’s going on?
Elected official: There’s going to be an announcement later today.
Me: Oh yeah? What? Jobs?
EO: An addition.
Me: Wouldn’t be (this announcement), would it?
EO: Why, yes, but the official word will come later.
Nice shootin, Josh. And truly, the official word is often important, sure to be chock full of details on the what/where/when of the move, expansion, etc.
Oh, and the MP took up Knoxville myths for its cover. In short, Knoxville’s crime problem isn’t too bad, homeless aren’t trucked in and the city doesn’t have the highest number of restaurants per capita in the country. Interesting article on PechaKucha, too. Next one is 7 p.m. today at the Square Room. I’ll try to make it.
Check back later today for the first installment of “Where am I?” A fun new game where you, the reader, can pick out the location of a photo taken from around-town Knoxville. Winners will receive the pride and satisfaction of a guess well done.
